Çok sevgili arkadaşımız, meslektaşımız ve perküsyon hocamız Dr. Amy Terese Salsgiver’ı kaybetmenin derin üzüntüsünü yaşıyoruz. Kendisi 15 Temmuz 2026 tarihinde aramızdan ayrıldı. Cenazesi defnedilmek üzere memleketi Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ne götürülecektir.

Sevgisi, çalışkanlığı ve tutkusuyla Amy; MIAM’da, İstanbul müzik yaşamında ve uluslararası müzik camiasında kalıcı izler bıraktı. Sevgili arkadaşımızı özlem ve sevgiyle anacağız.

Ailesine, dostlarına, öğrencilerine, meslektaşlarına ve tüm sevenlerine sabır ve başsağlığı diliyoruz.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend, colleague, and percussion instructor, Dr. Amy Terese Salsgiver, who passed away on July 15, 2026. She will be laid to rest in her hometown in the United States.

Through her kindness, dedication, and passion, Amy left a lasting mark on the MIAM community, on Istanbul’s music scene, and across the international music community. We will remember our dear friend with love, and she will be deeply missed.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, students, colleagues, and all who knew and loved her.

Çok sevgili arkadaşımız, perküsyon hocamız Dr. Amy Terese Salsgiver’ı kaybetmenin derin üzüntüsünü yaşıyoruz. 15 Temmuz 2026 günü aramızdan ayrıldı. Cenazesi memleketi ABD’ye götürülecektir.

Yıllardır sevgisiyle, çalışkanlığı ve tutkusuyla hepimizde iz bırakan sevgili arkadaşımızı özlemle anacağız. Ailesine, dostlarına, öğrencilerine ve tüm sevenlerine sabır ve başsağlığı diliyoruz.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend, colleague and percussion instructor, Dr. Amy Terese Salsgiver. She passed away on July 15, 2026. Her funeral arrangements will take place in her hometown in the United States.

In this workshop, we will explore immersive audio from both technical and aesthetic standpoints using the web-based authoring tool Inviso. We will first examine the principles underlying spatial audio techniques such as Ambisonics and binaural rendering, looking at design workflows in Reaper and Max. We will then implement an Ambisonic decoder for a custom speaker system and route higher-order Ambisonics from Inviso to the speakers. Finally, we will engage in a creative exercise, where we will utilize immersive audio features of Inviso to translate personal memories and experiences into spatial soundscapes. In doing so, we will not only learn an end-to-end immersive audio workflow involving software and hardware systems but also leverage its potential as a medium for creative expression.

Thresholds: A Workshop Series in Multisensory Emergence

The series brings together embodied practice, experimental approaches to perception, and collective forms of inquiry. We approach creativity not as self-expression alone, but as something that unfolds through sustained attention, sensory attunement, and relational experience. Participants are invited into immersive workshops that explore the shifting thresholds between self and environment, sound and expression, perception and presence. Open to all.

***Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a small cushion or yoga mat if you have one (there will be some mats available for shared use)
