🌊 strengthens Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi / Middle East Technical University’s role on the road to COP31 Türkiye!
As part of the UN Climate Change Presidency of Türkiye’s “Oceans & Seas Action Agenda” Workshop, one of the core priority themes, METU-IMS scientists contributed to shaping the agenda for resilient seas and oceans.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Devrim Tezcan led the discussion on strengthening regional marine cooperation, while PhD student Betül Bitir Soylu shared scientific perspectives on Türkiye’s sea basins as living laboratories for climate adaptation.
📌 Their contributions aligned with the International and Regional Cooperation Initiative for Climate-Resilient Seas, led by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, emphasizing the importance of science-based decision-making, regional cooperation, and coordinated climate action.
The workshop outcomes will feed directly into the high-level negotiations, strengthening the link between science, regional cooperation and climate diplomacy.
