Event Recap: 22 May NTHU Alumni Career Talk – “Break In: Taiwan’s Job Market”
A huge thank you to everyone who joined our recent NTHU Alumni Career Talk last Friday. It was great seeing so many students actively engaging, asking questions, and learning from our alumni speakers about their real experiences working in Taiwan.
The event focused on practical advice for how to break in Taiwan’s job market — especially for international students preparing for their next career step.
The takeaways from our alumni(Sarch, Trung Viet, and Farag):
🤝 Building connections matters
Networking and meeting people in your field can open up more opportunities than you think.
🗣️ Mandarin makes a difference
Even basic Mandarin skills can help you communicate better at work and adapt more smoothly to the local environment.
📊 Show your achievements, not just responsibilities
When preparing your resume or introducing yourself, focus on what you accomplished and the value you created.
🏢 Learn about company culture and hiring expectations
Understanding different workplace cultures and job requirements helps you position yourself more effectively during job hunting.
Our student loved the session, as most students shared that it completely changed how they plan to prepare for their job search, and another noted how helpful it was to get tips on navigating local culture as a foreigner.
Special thanks again to our alumni speakers for taking the time to share their valuable and honest advice, and to all the students who participated and made the event so interactive!
