From a Multicultural Upbringing to Representing Taiwan: Alma’s Journey in Youth Diplomacy 🇹🇼🌏

We are proud to celebrate Alma, a third-year student in Ming Chuan University’s International Affairs and Diplomacy Program, who was selected for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 2025 International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program. As a youth ambassador, she was also received by President Lai Ching-te, marking a memorable moment in her journey of international engagement.

Born in Yunlin to a Taiwanese mother and an Italian father, Alma grew up in Italy before returning to Taiwan for high school. Her multicultural experiences have shaped her understanding of identity, belonging, and cross-cultural communication. Today, she is committed to bringing this perspective to diplomatic work and helping people around the world better understand Taiwan and its people.

At MCU’s fully English-taught International Affairs and Diplomacy Program, students connect academic learning with real-world international experience. Through global learning, language development, and diplomatic practice, we encourage students to take part in international exchange and public diplomacy initiatives.

The Global Mutirão for Sustainable Architecture – Earth Day 2026 is a youth-led international action bringing together students from up to 20 countries to co-create a lightweight sustainable public pavilion in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

The program includes a two-day, one-night hands-on sustainable construction activity (April 18–19) led by professional technicians, followed by participation in an official World Earth Day public presentation on April 22, where selected participants may be invited to engage in individual media interviews to share their experiences and program outcomes.

Participation is fully supported, including transportation, meals, a work-based stipend, pre-program training, and an official English certificate aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Places are limited, and applicants will be selected through a brief review and discussion process.

Students from all majors are welcome.
