本中心主要任務是提供全校教師、學生及行政人員完善的計算與網路服務。

General information
1967年國科會(現為科技部)在其設立於本校的工程科學研究中心成立計算機室 ，由中美基金會支援安裝南部第一套計算機系統IBM 1130，此乃本中心之前身，後來此計算機室被納入成大，並於1976年8月正式定名為『電子計算機中心』，隨後又因負責建置及維運本校校園網路及被教育 部選定為台灣學術網路台南地區網路中心，於1999年10月更名為『計算機與網路中心』。
