成為臺灣人：根著與再生｜國際學術研討會

會議主旨 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 & 𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬

臺灣與東亞、東南亞的歷史聯繫深遠，從南島語族的遷徙、閩粵移民的開拓、日治時期的統治與經濟政策，到當代的移民潮與跨國交流，構成多層次的文化交織。
本年度研討會以「根著」與「再生」為核心主題，探討個體與文化如何在遷徙與交流中扎根與轉變。議程涵蓋歷史、宗教、藝術、考古與移民工研究等面向，邀集來自美國、日本、韓國、馬來西亞、新加坡、越南與臺灣的學者，共同思索在東北亞與東南亞的交會處，「成為臺灣人」的多重意涵。
Taiwan’s connections with East and Southeast Asia stretch across centuries and take many forms. From Austronesian migrations to Fujianese and Cantonese settlement, from Japanese colonial rule to contemporary migration and cross-border exchange, these historical and ongoing interactions have shaped a rich and diverse cultural landscape.
This year’s conference, themed "Rooted and Regenerating", examines how individuals and cultures take root, adapt, and transform through migration and cross-cultural exchange. Bringing together scholars from the United States, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Taiwan, it explores what it means to “become Taiwanese” at the intersection of Northeast and Southeast Asia, highlighting perspectives beyond Sinocentric narratives, including the roles of Indigenous peoples, new immigrants, and second-generation communities.

本次會議，我們邀請日本早稻田大學名譽教授若林正丈，帶來 ❝殖民地國家的「廣度」與「深度」：臺灣史中日本殖民統治期之政治史意義試論❞ 專題演講，聚焦殖民統治下臺灣國家建構的歷史深層結構與政治發展的長期意涵。
The keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Masahiro Wakabayashi, titled “Colonial Reach and Permeation: A Preliminary Essay on the Political-Historical Significance of the Period of Japanese Colonial Rule in Taiwanese History.” Professor Wakabayashi will examine the historical processes of state-building in Taiwan under colonial rule and their long-term implications for political development.
