【IUMRS-ICA 2026|Forum C & D
Forum C: Polymer/Soft Matter and Biomedical Materials(高分子、軟質物質與生醫材料)
Forum D: Composite and Nano Materials and Materials Analysis(複合材料、奈米材料與材料分析)

【IUMRS-ICA 2026 | Forum C & D Joint Focus: Cross-Scale Analytics on Soft Biomatter and Nanocomposite Materials】
The 2026 IUMRS International Conference in Asia (IUMRS-ICA 2026), jointly organized by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and the Materials Research Society-Taiwan (MRS-T), will grandly convene at the International Convention Center Tainan (ICC Tainan) from October 31 to November 5, 2026. This year's conference comprehensively covers eight core materials domains—spanning foundational metals, ceramics, and polymer/biomedical materials to frontier semiconductor optoelectronics, nanocomposites, functional ceramics, artificial intelligence computations, and zero-carbon green energy tech—mapping out next-generation critical technologies. Continuing our strategic overview, this feature dives deep into Forum C and Forum D, targeting mechanical behaviors and structural engineering solutions across soft polymers and advanced heterogeneous interfaces.
Forum C: Polymer/Soft Matter and Biomedical Materials
From complex molecular synthesis to clinical translation in precision medicine, Forum C comprehensively covers hybrid materials, optoelectronic polymers, biomechanics, and colloidal thin films. As biomedical engineering shifts toward structural customization, the conference moves beyond conventional "biocompatibility" metrics to target the physical limits of materials in dynamic physiological environments. Sessions will dissect interfacial chain entanglement dynamics, the competing mechanisms of stress transfer and in-vivo degradation during soft tissue repair, and the phase-transition thermodynamics of stimuli-responsive polymers for targeted drug delivery.
Forum D: Composite and Nano Materials and Materials Analysis
Breakthroughs in nanocomposites depend on the precise deconstruction of mesoscopic interfaces and atomic configurations. Forum D targets 2D materials, metal-organic frameworks (M*Fs), biomimetic structures, and advanced surface anti-corrosion techniques. Addressing the thermodynamic instability inherent in heterogeneous integration, we discard traditional macroscopic mechanical perspectives. The focus shifts to analyzing interlayer coupling effects in low-dimensional materials, diffusion limitations within M*F nanopores, and charge-transfer mechanisms across multi-dimensional heterojunctions. Dedicated Japan-Taiwan and Thailand-Taiwan Joint Sessions will directly address these cross-scale engineering limitations.
