We are extremely excited to announce that we are holding two consecutive summer school programs during this coming August & September 2022 — the Worldwide Universities Network Virtual Summer School and the Innovative Semiconductor On-Campus Summer School!

◆ Worldwide Universities Network Virtual Summer School ◆

ﾟDate: Aug. 8th- Aug. 18th, 2022
ﾟApplication Deadline: June 1st, 2022
ﾟFormat: Virtual
ﾟNumber of Participants: Maximum of 50 students
ﾟLanguage: All courses are offered in English

The Summer School will be run virtually, cooperating with NCKU’s Certificate Program in Sustainable Development and University of York, England to offer a course, ‘Act for Sustainability’ to aspiring leaders around the world. Experts will be giving keynote talks and seminars in a masterclass format on issues pertaining to 9 of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. There will be opportunities for students to undertake collaborative work.
The summer school is open to both undergraduates and postgraduates, with an additional entry-level Chinese language class offered to early registrants and a virtual tour of the most historical city of Taiwan in a fun-filled day.

*After finishing this program, participants can get 2 credits from core courses and 0.5 credits from Exploring Tainan.

We are excited to announce the 2021 NCKU International Summer School with the topic Sustainable Environment, Myth or Reality?

It includes SDG core courses themed as Sustainable Recovery, field trips featured to related local infrastructures/industries, Crash Class in Chinese & City Tour for their extra options.
Although the pandemic is still going on, the format of the course will be hybrid this year, students from overseas can join the program virtually.

Below are the detail Information of the summer school:

Theme: Sustainable Environment, Myth or Reality?
Date: 2021/08/02~2021/08/11
Application Deadline: 2021/06/20
Number of Participants: 30 students in class; 50 students with virtual participation
Format: Hybrid: On- campus (for students in Taiwan) + Virtual

All courses will be taught in English, English proficiency is required.

Note: If the on-campus course need to be cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we will further announce.

【Conflict of Greens & Business Model Development】

Professor Hsiao-Wen Wang delivers on: “Lessons Learned from Conflict of Greens – How we can do better” She shows us how we can improve from the environmental mistakes of our past.

Professor Yu-Yu Chang delivers on the Development of the Business Model and how it is incorporated in to the CSR and SDG Economy.

An analytical group discussion was also conducted based on the aforementioned lecturers.

Today ending with amazing presentations from group 1 to group 6! We saw you in such short time, cooperating with each other, staying up late to discuss, with every one hard working, come out perfect work!

We are looking forward all of you to turn the new knowledge learned this summer into practical actions.

【Wow: Recycle & Innovation, Education & Marketing!】
An inspiring afternoon with Guest Lecturers:
Chung-Li Yeh and Yi Pei Liao

- Chung-Li,Yeh delivers a speech titled,
“What is Made From the Cloth, Return Back to the Cloth”
Yeh is the CEO of Tainan Enterprises Cultural and Arts Foundation. He holds dual Master degrees in Political Science Research and News and Information Communication, with interests in Integrated Marketing and Public Relations.

- Yi Pei Liao delivers a presentation on:
“Using Fish and Food Education
as a Way to Place Making in Quiqu”.
She enlightens us on the importance of the Tainan Fish Market in stimulating innovative education.
Liao is the Co-founder of coFishland Company Limited.
She holds a MS in Building and Planning from the National Taiwan University and a PhD in Urban Planning from the National Cheng Kung University.

The topic for this morning’s session is:
Just Recovery in Asia toward Global Climate changes
–Guest Lecturer: Liang Yi Chang

Chang is a Managing Director and Campaign Coordinator of 350.org. He is also the leader of the International Collaboration Committee for the Board of Directors of the International Climate Change Development Institution and an Organizational Development Advisor for the Board of Directors in Design for Change.

He is an alumni of National Tsing-Hua University and National Taiwan University, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Life Science and an M.S. in Anatomy and Cell Biology, respectively.

The topic for this afternoon’s session is:
mHealth in Preventive Medicine
Smart Application for Health Behavior Change
– Guest Lecturer: Ren-Hao Pan

Pan is the founder of WaCare TeleHealth of La Vida Tec Company Limited. He also serves as an Assistant Professor at Tunghai Unviersity and the National Yang-Ming University.
Pan holds a Ph.D in Optimization and Bioinformatics Lab from the National Chung Hsing University.
