🌉 Meet Taiwan’s New Landmark: Tamkang Bridge

The Tamkang Bridge is set to become one of northern Taiwan’s most iconic pieces of infrastructure. Featuring a sleek single-tower cable-stayed design, its clean, modern silhouette blends seamlessly into the Tamsui River skyline. It’s also recognized as the world’s longest single-tower cable-stayed bridge, making it a true engineering landmark.

📅 Opening Date
The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic on May 12, 2026, marking a major milestone for the region.

🚗 Why It Matters
• Significantly reduces travel time between Tamsui and Bali
• Eases congestion on Guandu Bridge — currently the primary crossing
• Improves access to Taoyuan International Airport and western New Taipei

🌏 More than just a bridge, it represents a major step forward in connecting communities and enhancing mobility across Taiwan.

Looking for a truly unique cultural experience in Taiwan? 🇹🇼

One of the most incredible religious events you can witness is the 白沙屯媽祖進香 — a journey full of faith, energy, and human connection.

📅 2026 Dates: April 12 – April 20
👣 Participants: Over 450,000 devotees joined this year — a record-breaking turnout

Open to everyone — locals and foreigners welcome
A rare chance to walk alongside nearly half a million believers
Free food and support offered by kind locals along the way

Wear comfortable walking shoes 👟
Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat ☀️

Even joining for a few hours is an unforgettable experience

🎆 2026 Taitung Bombing of Handan|Taiwan’s Wildest Lantern Festival Tradition

When people think of Taitung, they think of stunning coastline, mountains, and slow living.

But beyond its beautiful nature, Taitung is also rich in unique local culture — and this is one of its boldest traditions.

💥 2026 Bombing of Handan (炸寒單)

📅 2026/02/26 – 03/07
🏯 Main events at Taitung Xuantian Temple

https://tour.taitung.gov.tw/zh-tw/event-calendar/details/6216

During the Lantern Festival, a volunteer plays Master Handan (寒單爺) — a deity of wealth who “dislikes the cold.”

To warm him up and receive blessings for prosperity, people set off intense firecrackers around him while he stands on a palanquin.

The louder the explosions, the stronger the blessings 💰🔥

It’s loud, smoky, chaotic — and 100% real Taiwanese folk belief in action.

📍 Special Event in Chenggong

If you’re exploring the coast, don’t miss:

📅 03/03
📍 Chenggong Bombing of Handan celebration

A smaller coastal town vibe, but equally powerful energy.

🤯 Why You Should Go

This is NOT a staged tourist show.
This is real Taiwanese folk belief in action.

You’ll experience:

Non-stop firecrackers

Drums and temple parades

Intense local energy

A once-in-a-lifetime cultural moment

It’s loud. It’s smoky. It’s chaotic.
And it’s absolutely unforgettable.

⚠️ Safety Tips
If you go:
✔ Wear long sleeves and pants
✔ Bring earplugs (it gets VERY loud)
✔ Protect your eyes
✔ Follow police and temple instructions
✔ Keep a safe distance unless you’re ready for sparks

If you’re already in Taitung, this is your chance to experience more than just the scenery — step into local faith, community spirit, and unforgettable festival adrenaline. This is the kind of story you’ll tell forever.
