Chang Gung University (CGU) was established in 1987 and ranked no. 475 according to the QS world university rankings.

CGU has been striving for excellence in both teaching and research since its establishment. CGU is a research-oriented university and consists of 4 colleges including College of Medicine, College of Engineering, College of Management and College of Intelligent Computing. Currently, the university has approximate 600 full-time and 600 adjunct faculty members. Around 7000 students, about one-third of them are graduate students, are in the campus.

[News] CGU Launches Advanced Memory Research Center for the AI Era

Chang Gung University has established a new Advanced Memory Research Center in collaboration with Nanya Technology and other semiconductor industry partners.

The center will focus on advanced memory technologies, including IC design, device integration, advanced packaging, and AI-driven smart manufacturing, while strengthening talent development for Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.

Students will also gain hands-on experience through industry internships, creating a stronger connection between education, research, and future careers.

[News] “Don’t outsource your brain to AI.”

As AI becomes part of everyday learning, Chang Gung University encourages students to go beyond simply using the technology.

“If your answer isn’t better than ChatGPT’s, why should an employer hire you?”

At CGU, the goal is not to avoid AI, but to learn how to use it wisely.

The University is developing an AI Tutor that guides students through questions step by step instead of simply giving them the answer—helping them strengthen their reasoning, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

CGU is also bringing AI into medical and management education through initiatives such as AIMD and AI EMBA, while continuing to emphasize the importance of fundamental knowledge, critical thinking, and communication.

AI can help us work faster—but knowing what to ask, how to judge the answer, and when to make the final cal still depends on us.

[News] CGU Student Earns TAICA Certificate, Bringing Biomedical Engineering and AI Together

Chang Gung University is expanding interdisciplinary AI education through the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence College Alliance (TAICA), giving students access to AI courses offered by leading universities across Taiwan.

Chao-Yang Kuo, a student from CGU’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, has become the first CGU student to earn a TAICA program certificate issued by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education.

Over four semesters, he completed 15 credits across five AI courses offered by National Taiwan University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, and Tunghai University. His studies covered areas including machine learning, deep learning, AI ethics, computer vision, and robotic navigation.

For CGU, the value of TAICA goes beyond simply offering more AI courses. It creates opportunities for students to build a second area of expertise in AI without changing their major, while learning across institutions and disciplines.

As AI continues to transform healthcare, biomedical engineering, medical imaging, smart manufacturing, and many other fields, future professionals will need more than expertise in a single discipline—they will also need to know how to use AI to solve problems in their own fields.

At CGU, interdisciplinary learning is helping turn “Biomedical Engineering + AI” from a course pathway into real opportunities for research and future industry applications.

[News] CGU’s “Hunter’s Footprints” Project Wins Silver at the 2026 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards

Chang Gung University’s “Hunter’s Footprints – Diabetic Foot Resilience Action Project” has received a Silver Award at the 2026 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards for its long-term efforts to promote health equity in Indigenous communities.

Led by Associate Professor Angela Shin-Yu Lien from the Department of Nursing, the project works closely with Atayal communities in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, where limited access to healthcare can make diabetes prevention and foot care especially challenging.

By bringing together university and hospital resources, the team provides services including diabetic foot screening, blood glucose monitoring, wound care, chronic disease prevention, home visits, and health education. Medical and nursing students also work directly with community members, creating a two-way learning model that strengthens local healthcare capacity.

To make health education more culturally relevant and accessible, the team has developed innovative learning tools inspired by Atayal hunting culture and community life, including board games, picture books, dialogue maps, and immersive VR materials.

The project goes beyond delivering healthcare—it aims to empower residents to take a more active role in managing their own health and supporting one another.

CGU will continue working with hospitals, businesses, and local communities to build a healthcare model rooted in health equity, cultural respect, and sustainable resilience.
