Chang Gung University Chang Gung University (CGU) was established in 1987 and ranked no. 475 according to the QS world university rankings.

CGU has been striving for excellence in both teaching and research since its establishment. CGU is a research-oriented university and consists of 4 colleges including College of Medicine, College of Engineering, College of Management and College of Intelligent Computing. Currently, the university has approximate 600 full-time and 600 adjunct faculty members. Around 7000 students, about one-third of them are graduate students, are in the campus.

[News] 🏆Chang Gung University Team Wins Second Place at the 2026 IEEE IMS International Student Contest!

A team from Chang Gung University proudly represented Taiwan at the 2026 IEEE IMS International Student Contest in France, earning an impressive Second Place among 10 finalist teams from around the world.

After winning first place in the NCIR i-ONE Instrument Technology Innovation Competition in Taiwan, the team advanced to the global stage and showcased outstanding expertise in instrument design, measurement technology, and system integration.

Their achievement not only highlights the team’s innovation and engineering capabilities, but also showcases the strength of Taiwan’s scientific research and engineering education on the international stage.

Chang Gung University welcomed Professor Jianzhu Chen of MIT on May 25, 2026, for a special lecture titled “Macrophages, Chronic Diseases and Aging.”

Professor Chen, a faculty member in MIT’s Department of Biology, the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, and the Broad Institute, shared insights into the crucial role of macrophages in chronic diseases and the aging process.

Held at the Artificial Intelligence Research Center and livestreamed online, the event attracted faculty members and students interested in immunology, cancer research, infectious diseases, and cell therapy. The lecture also highlighted emerging opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in biomedical science and precision medicine.

[News] 🎓 Chang Gung University celebrated its 2025 Commencement Ceremony on May 30, marking a significant milestone for 1,761 graduates as they embarked on the next chapter of their lives.

The ceremony began with a campus parade, where graduates, dressed in CGU academic gowns, were cheered on by faculty members, friends, and underclassmen. During his commencement address, President Ming-Je Tang encouraged graduates to "Grab the opportunity, make a difference" and become lifelong thinkers who embrace challenges, pursue meaningful change, and never stop learning.

A highlight of the ceremony was the tassel-turning tradition, symbolizing students' transition from learners to graduates. Student representatives shared reflections on their journeys at CGU, expressing gratitude to their families, professors, and friends for their unwavering support.

International student representative Amelia Dreesa spoke about the courage required to study abroad and encouraged fellow graduates to continue building bridges across cultures. The ceremony concluded with graduates singing "A Grateful Heart" and tossing their caps into the air, celebrating new beginnings and the limitless possibilities ahead.

[News] Leading experts in immunology and translational medicine from Taiwan, Harvard Medical School, and KAIST gathered at the 2nd Taiwan–Harvard–KAIST Immunology Joint Symposium to discuss the latest developments in precision medicine and immune-related diseases.

The symposium highlighted the growing role of the immune system in cancer, aging, metabolic disorders, neuroinflammation, and chronic diseases, as well as its importance in clinical care, drug development, and future therapies.

International scholars also shared new findings in cancer immunology, neuroimmunology, gut immunity, chronic inflammation, and microbiome research, while Taiwanese researchers presented recent advances in translational medicine and clinical immunology.

The event further strengthened international collaboration between Taiwan, the U.S., and South Korea, advancing innovation in immunology, precision medicine, and next-generation healthcare.

For 30 consecutive years, the Chang Gung University Karate Team has ranked among the top three teams at Taiwan’s National Intercollegiate Athletic Games — an extraordinary achievement led by Professor Liu, Yen-hsiu.

A former national karate athlete, Prof. Liu has dedicated decades to both teaching and coaching, inspiring generations of students with discipline, resilience, and perseverance. This year, many first-time competitors from CGU once again delivered impressive results, earning:
