🤖✨ Bringing AI Learning to Life at National Taipei University!

Last week, we were delighted to welcome a team from Deloitte to National Taipei University for an engaging and insightful seminar on Claude AI and the future of AI literacy! 🚀

💡 During the session, students explored how Claude works, learning about concepts such as next-token prediction and working memory, as well as the different Claude models and when to use them effectively.

🔍 We also discovered why AI literacy matters, from evaluating AI-generated responses and verifying information to using AI responsibly and effectively.

💻 The highlight? A hands-on workshop where students put their knowledge into practice, explored Claude’s capabilities, and learned how AI can simplify everyday tasks and boost productivity. We wrapped up the session with exciting Kahoot games, fun competition, and prizes for the winners! 🏆🎉

It was a fantastic learning experience filled with curiosity, collaboration, and practical insights. A big thank you to the Deloitte team for sharing their expertise and making the session so interactive and memorable! 🙌

📊 Data Storytelling Under Uncertainty. When Numbers Tell More Than One Story!

On September 30th, we had the pleasure of welcoming Emily Lin from The Wonderland Group for an insightful session on “Data Storytelling Under Uncertainty.” 🎤✨

The session challenged students to look beyond the numbers and think critically about how data shapes our decisions.

🔍 Key takeaways:
• Don’t fall for the “illusion of insight”, when we see data, always question the assumptions behind it.
• Reason based on facts, but remember that new information can change our decisions.
• Follow the journey: Fact → Story → Assumption → Decision → Recommendation
• When comparing numbers, make sure you’re comparing on the same basis, establish a baseline, and understand the scope of the problem.
• A metric is an observation. An insight is an interpretation. A decision requires judgement.
• Most importantly, every insight depends on assumptions — so uncertainty needs to be made explicit.

🤖 Human Reasoning vs. AI Reasoning

Students also participated in interactive activities where they had to make assumptions and interpret statements based on numbers. They then compared their reasoning with AI-generated reasoning, creating some fascinating discussions and perspectives!

🏆 And of course, a little competition made it even more exciting! The team with the best answers walked away with some prizes. 🎁👏

It was a fun, engaging, and insightful session that reminded us that data doesn’t make decisions, people do. The key is knowing how to question the story behind the numbers.

🔐🤖 AI is powerful, but what happens when AI itself becomes the target?

On 23rd of September, we had the pleasure of welcoming Chris Ma from CyCraft, Taipei for an insightful and interactive seminar on AI Era Security Risks.

🎯 Quick recap of what we learned:
• Shadow AI and why it is difficult to control and how it can lead to serious data and financial losses
• Four AI attack methods that can be used to extract sensitive information from AI chatbots:
▪️ Prompt Injection - exploring the balance between AI capabilities and AI risks
▪️ Catastrophic Forgetting - how teaching a model something new can affect what it previously learned
▪️ Multi-Turn Attacks - using a sequence of interactions to manipulate AI systems
▪️ Different-Language Attacks - exploiting multilingual capabilities to bypass safeguards

💡 The session went beyond theory. We wrapped up with an engaging Q&A session, followed by a hands-on activity where students got to simulate one of the attacks on a testing website.

It was exciting to see everyone actively participate, experiment, and experience firsthand how AI attacks can work in real-world scenarios! 🎮💻

🤖✨ AI, Business & the Future of Work — What We Learned from IBM!

On 16th of September, we had the pleasure of welcoming Anderson Lin from IBM Taipei for an insightful and interactive seminar on AI, business strategy, and responsible innovation! 💡

From understanding the two driving forces of AI, speed & governance ⚡🛡️to exploring the evolution from predictive AI → generative AI → agentic AI, students gained valuable insights into how AI can create real business value.

🔹 Start with the business problem, not the technology
🔹 Understand the AI implementation journey: Pilot → Scale → Operationalize
🔹 Build, Buy, or Partner — and understand the trade-offs

A new chapter begins for the new students joining the Artificial Intelligence Applications and Management Program at National Taipei University! 😀🎓✨

It’s great to welcome so many new faces to the program. The new students took part in the New Student Orientation, where important information about thesis preparation, career development, and useful tips for starting their journey was shared.

The orientation was followed by a Welcome Party, where our Program Director was also present. We also played a short icebreaker game, giving the new students an opportunity to interact, connect, and get to know their senior students.📚
