從80年7月1日本校正式成立，既於80學年度成立電子工程系四年制（四技）一班， 81學年度增加電子工程系二年制（二技）一班，83學年度奉核准設立電子與資訊工程研究所，90學年度增加四年制（四技）一班，自92學年度起碩士班更名為電子工程研究所，另成立資訊工程研究所，93學年度再成立光電工程研究所。97學年度成立電子工程系博士班，成為具有大學部、碩士班及博士班的完整系所。本系奉教育部核准，於100學年度電子工程系碩士班與光電工程研究所碩士班整合為一所，更名為電子與光電工程研究所碩士班(晶片與系統組、微電子與光電工程組)。102學年奉依教育部指示系所合一，電子與光電工程研究所更名為電子工程系碩士班(晶片與系統組、微電子與光電工程組)
