🌍SFR2CC Project Partners Meeting Underway in Kabale to Strengthen Climate Resilience
Key partners implementing the Strengthening Smallholder Farmer Resilience to Climate Change through Joint Learning, Development and Evaluation of Contextualized Solutions (SFR2CC) project have convened in Kabale for a five-day Project Steering Committee meeting running from 10th–14th August 2026.
Hosted by Kabale University at Cepha's Inn Hotel, the meeting calls together partners from Mountains of the Moon University(MMU), Kabale University, Joint Effort to Save the Environment (JESE) and Kigezi Women in Development (KWID), alongside project coordinators, researchers and scholars.
The engagement is providing an opportunity to review project progress, address implementation challenges, plan for 2027 and strengthen collaborative approaches to water resources management, climate resilience and sustainable agriculture.
A key focus is the development of practical approaches to irrigation and on-farm water management, as well as progress towards establishing a Master of Science programme in Water Resources Management.
SFR2CC scholars are also presenting their research progress, with participants scheduled to engage directly with farmers at the Kamwezi Farmer Field Schools to connect research and innovation with real-world farming experiences.
Speaking at the meeting, Associate Professor violet kisakye, SFR2CC Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator, highlighted the importance of collaboration among universities, development organisations, researchers and farming communities in translating research into practical solutions for climate resilience.
Through SFR2CC, MMU and its partners continue to strengthen joint learning, research and capacity building to support smallholder farmers across the Rwenzori and Kigezi sub-regions.
