Happy 90th Birthday, OB Dr. James Rwanyarare

We celebrate a remarkable life of service and leadership.

OB Dr. James Rwanyarare, former Minister in the government of Apollo Milton Obote and later Chairman of the UPC Presidential Commission, has left an enduring mark on Uganda’s political landscape. Now retired from active politics, his legacy continues to inspire generations.

During his time at Wilson House, he shared space with an exceptional group of individuals who would go on to distinguish themselves in their respective fields. Among them were Prof. George Kanyeihamba, Dr. William Nganwa, Hon. James Mwandha, Dr. Frank Nabwiso, Mr. George Kinuka, and Dr. John Babigumira.

Together, this distinguished cohort reflects the enduring legacy of Wilson House in shaping leaders and professionals who have made meaningful contributions across diverse sectors.

As we mark this milestone, we honor a life well lived and a legacy that continues to inspire.

Today, our student population stands at over one thousand strong.

More importantly, our academic performance in both UCE and UACE examinations speaks for itself. Mwiri is back where it belongs—among the top-performing schools in the country.

Gone are the days when Mwiri was absent from the national conversation on excellence.

Today, we stand tall again—reclaimed, renewed, and resolute.

And let me be clear: Mwiri is not built on one individual.

We have many Mwirians—capable, competent, and committed—who are ready to step into any leadership role and carry this institution forward.

That is the strength of Mwiri.

For over a century, Mwiri has been a national incubation centre—shaping minds, building character, and producing high-quality professionals and skilled individuals who have gone on to serve this nation with distinction.

Our legacy is written in the leadership of this country.
