Today marked another important step for the SAFE Clubs at Makerere University under the Emerging Leaders Program.
Following last week’s mobilization meeting with SAFE Club leaders, students organized themselves into small peer groups of 5–8 members, creating the learning circles through which the iLEAD leadership program will be delivered.
During today’s orientation, students were guided on how to access the iLEAD online platform and how the course is conducted within their groups. The session also introduced them to the structure of the program and the expectations for participation.
The students then began their learning journey with Lesson 8: “Commitment” under the iChoose phase — a module focused on personal responsibility, character, and intentional leadership.
SAFE Clubs will now meet every Tuesday for one-hour sessions, where students will engage with the course content together through guided discussions and reflection.
Because the program is designed as a peer-based learning experience, the course is intentionally completed in groups, allowing students to grow together, hold one another accountable, and develop practical leadership values.
Through SAFE Clubs and the iLEAD framework, the Emerging Leaders Program continues to build a community of students committed to character, discipline, and transformational leadership at Makerere University.
