Excellence doesn’t wait for perfect conditions it creates them.

We celebrate one of our own for emerging as a Winner at the Regional Film Competition 2026, taking home Best Smartphone Film for “Young Motherhood.”

A story told with heart, vision, and the courage to create with what’s available. This is what filmmaking is truly about: impact over equipment.

At Kampala Film School, we are proud to nurture storytellers who dare to see differently and bring their voices to life.

This is not just a win.
It’s a reminder that greatness can begin right where you are.

Becoming a Filmmaker starts with belief. Every student at Kampala Film School arrives with a different dream but they all share the same hunger to create.Through group projects, class discussions, and practical shoots, they slowly discover who they are in the filmmaking world. Some find passion in cinematography, Sound, others in editing or directing. What matters is the process: The mistakes they learn from, the ideas they refine, and the confidence they gain along the way. This journey isn’t just about film it’s about growth.

Where Creativity Meets Skill
At Kampala Film School, learning film isn’t about cramming notes, it’s about discovering how stories work. Our classes bring students close to real equipment, real challenges, and real creativity.
Every lesson is an invitation to explore: how light shapes emotion, how sound guides mood, how camera movement changes meaning. Students don’t just follow instructions; they experiment, ask questions, and shape their own artistic voice.
This is a place where curiosity is encouraged and talent is built through practice, guidance, and teamwork.

Kampala Film School is pleased to acknowledge the receipt of Mass Communication and Storytelling books generously donated by the U.S. Embassy.

The books were received at Kampala University, Ggaba Campus, by Madam Sarah and Madam Molly, and will go a long way in supporting the training of our students in film and media studies.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the U.S. Embassy for this valuable contribution to strengthening film and communication education in Uganda.
