UTAMU: When someone tells you that there is no agenda, you can be certain there is nothing but an agenda.
Last Friday, 23rd April 2021, the guild president, and his cabinet held a meeting with Prof.Muwanga Zake JWF- the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) to discuss the agenda for this academic year.
H. E. Kayizzi Patrick, who is the Guild president presented the activities to be done per month to be held although he didnât mention the dates. He says the dates will be communicated in due course.
The activities to be undertaken are; Guildâs handover ceremony and Guild party, (both to be held in May), Introduction of Sports to be held any time from now and Freshersâ bash to be held in October.
Kayizzi also says UTAMU will join the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) and Guild Presidents Association of Uganda noting that this will greatly help the University to be recognized amongst other Universities in the country.
In the same meeting, Prof. Muwanga clarified the issue of poor tuition auditing by the Accountantâs office saying that this was because of the changes that were made in the same office where all the accounts were altered.
However, he has requested the affected students to stay calm and also advised those with their receipts to present them in the accounts so that they can be cleared.
âMeanwhile, as we are working on the electronic system which will track all the information about the student together with his or her payment statements, I request the victims to stay calm. This system will be accessed freely by both a student and the administration for easy problem-solving.ââ Zake said
You will recallâŚ.
At the beginning of this semester, many students were shocked when they learned about some of their missing payment statements for tuition in the school accounts system. Rumour has it that, some students were forced to drop out and others who could not raise this money but still love studies stepped aside and asked for a dead year.
A penny of your thoughts?
There are two kinds of people: Those who think, âI donât want anyone to suffer as I did.â And those who think, âI suffered, so why shouldnât they?
We are planning to have an interview with some of the stakeholders and soon we will avail you all the information so that you judge on which side they fall according to the above statement but we hope the response will be positive.
