Kumi University

Kumi University Kumi University was founded by Korean Missionary couple Hyeong Lyeol Lyu and Mrs. Minja Lee in 1999.

It developed from the Africa Leaders’ Training Institute (ALTI), which was established in 1996 to meet the demands of the local community. The University was founded to provide quality, affordable, community-tailored, Christian-based higher education. The Kumi University Foundation was approved by Uganda Government in 2004 with document No. 66491. The University then acquired the operational Licen

se the same year with National Council For Higher Education NCHE (UI..PL..002 NCHE). Kumi University is established in the scenic countryside of TESO’s spectacular inselbergs, next to the famous Old Stone Age Site Nyero Rock Paintings in Kumi District in the Eastern part of Uganda. The University is in the advanced stages of acquiring the civil charter from the government of Uganda. Once this process is complete, the University will open its gates for higher degree programs. Currently, the University runs three major study schedules for undergraduate programs: External for in-service teachers, Weekend for busy and/or employed executives, and Full time for direct entrants (O and A) level leavers. Founded on the Christian Virtues and Values, Kumi University is the perfect answer to your and/or your sons/daughters' academic and ethical growth. Our Former Guild President Mabonga Jesse was the overall best student on the 17th Graduation ceremony with a first degree in Bachelor's degree in theology.

He handed over the instruments of power on 27th November 2022 to Mr. Ageet Thomas.

Kumi University aided in a project in sponsorship of Danal Inc. and Loving Concern International of Korea to provide clean water for communities in Kiryandongo refugee camp in Mid-Western region of Uganda. Our Vice Chancellor and Chairman B.O.T. visited Kiryandongo refugee camp with volunteers and sponsors from Loving Concern International to celebrate the well project's completion and to run special activities for children in the refugee camp.

The 17th Graduation Ceremony was held on 25th November 2022 on Kumi University Campus. Four hundred eleven (411) students graduated from Kumi University this year. As a result, the institution graduated a total of 4981 graduates. Attended by Uganda's Vice President Jessica Alupo as the guest of honour, the graduation ceremony was held with the joy and pride of our graduates.
