One of just two individuals selected this year, Walters continues to bring her professional experiences and expertise back to the classroom, benefiting Northern’s marketing students.

Healthy aging starts in our communities.

Northern’s Dr. Chelsee Shortt is part of a South Dakota Board of Regents team awarded funding to establish the Governor’s Research in Aging Center of Excellence (GRACE).

The initiative will bring research, education and innovation focused on healthy aging to communities across South Dakota—including in Aberdeen—helping older adults maintain movement, function and independence.

After 11 years leading Northern State University’s School of Fine Arts, Dr. Kenneth Boulton will retire in June 2027.

During his tenure, Boulton helped expand arts programs, creative spaces, student opportunities and support for the fine arts at NSU. His final year as dean will coincide with Northern’s 125th anniversary.

Thank you, Dr. Boulton, for 11 years of leadership and dedication to the arts at Northern! ❤️💛

After 11 years leading Northern State University’s School of Fine Arts, Dr. Kenneth Boulton will retire in June 2027.
