Cornerstones Bank Junior Bank Board
The goal of the bank board is to engage and introduce banking/finance students to the banking industry. They are looking to select around 10 -12 students to serve on this board. There will be roughly 10-12 sessions that make up skill and capability training. The sessions will mainly pertain to banking and finance majors.

Meetings will be virtual, and the program is slated to start in January. Those who complete the program will receive a $500 scholarship.

Marketing Intern - Northwestern Mutual

Position Overview:
Northwestern Mutual is seeking motivated, creative, and outgoing NSU students interested in gaining hands-on marketing experience while developing professional skills in a business environment. This paid internship provides an opportunity to learn marketing strategies, event promotion, brand awareness, networking, and relationship-building while working alongside experienced professionals.

Compensation & Hours:
Paid internship
5 to 10 hours per week
Flexible schedule designed to accommodate class schedules
Students interested in working additional hours may have opportunities for expanded responsibilities and hours, which can be negotiated based on availability and performance

Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives
Create and schedule social media content
Support event planning, promotion, and ex*****on
Help increase brand awareness on campus and within the community
Build and maintain relationships with students, organizations, and community members
Assist with recruiting and outreach efforts
Conduct market research and identify potential networking opportunities
Collaborate with team members on marketing strategies and projects
Represent Northwestern Mutual professionally at events and meetings

Preferred Qualifications:
Current NSU student
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Active on social media platforms
Self-motivated and organized
Interest in marketing, business, communications, public relations, or related fields
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Last week, Dr. Brenda Merkel, Assistant Professor of Management, traveled to Sioux Falls with four School of Business Students to attend the Innovation Expo. Natalia Szybinska, John Ellis, Fan Zhang, and Kiki Gebremhedin were able to network and learn from speakers on topics like AI, scaling businesses, building teams, and more.
The Innovation Expo is a conference dedicated to connecting entrepreneurs, innovators, angel investors, venture capitalists, and other key players in the startup ecosystem. The event showcases entrepreneur and investor speakers sharing their expertise while also providing networking opportunities for the startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem of South Dakota and the surrounding region.
Enterprise Institute and Startup Sioux Falls were sponsors of the expo.
