🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Amal Mitra, MBBS, DIH, MPH, DrPH! 🎉

Dr. Mitra, Chair of our Department of Public Health, has been honored with the prestigious John Snow Award by the American Public Health Association (APHA). This award recognizes Dr. Mitra’s outstanding contributions to the field of epidemiology and public health, furthering the legacy of John Snow, one of the founders of modern epidemiology.

Dr. Mitra’s work, including his recent publications Statistical Approaches for Epidemiology and Epidemiology for Dummies, continues to impact public health research and education. We are proud of his leadership and dedication!

Our campus in Abilene hosted some very special guests from Silliman University in the Philippines this week. Dr. Theresa Guino-o, the Dean of the School of Nursing and Dr. Theorose June Q Bustillo, Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing spent time with faculty and administration from TTUHSC in Abilene.

This October, MPH students participating in Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's global health program, will present at the Barangay Health Worker conference at Silliman University in the Philippines.

Jad Zeitouni, a medical and a public health student, has been appointed as the student regent for the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents for the 2024-25 academic year!

Congratulations, Jad!

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Jad Zeitouni as the student regent for the TTU System Board of Regents for the 2024-25 academic year!

Zeitouni, a Lubbock native, is a student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he is pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree from the School of Medicine and studying public health in the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health. He becomes the 19th student to serve on the TTU System Board of Regents and the seventh from TTUHSC.
