What an incredible day for this amazing group! Today they completed their final exams and are now turning their focus to the NCLEX-PN. This has been such a fun, energetic class, and it has been a joy to watch them grow into confident, compassionate future nurses. They even managed to talk some of the faculty into wearing their glasses! 😎😊

Strong communities begin with investing in local people.

We had a fantastic evening with the Winters ISD community sharing the many healthcare education opportunities available through Cisco College! Dr. Merritt and Dr. Woody enjoyed visiting with students, parents, educators, and community members about our Certified Medication Assistant (CMA), Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Mental Health Technician, Dual Credit LVN, Vocational Nursing (LVN), and Registered Nursing (RN) programs.

Thank you for the invitation. We are excited to continue building partnerships with Winters ISD and other rural communities to create pathways into rewarding healthcare careers while strengthening the healthcare workforce across our region. Together, we're preparing the next generation of compassionate caregivers!

Today I had the pleasure of having Dr. Helen Usera from Cisco College in the studio, along with my daughter, Angelina, who proudly attends Cisco College. What a special dad moment. Seeing her on this journey makes me incredibly proud. I’m proud to be a Cisco College dad! - Rudy Fernandez

📢 Waiting for Your Blue Card?

If your nursing program has submitted your roster, you will receive an email from the Texas Board of Nursing with instructions to complete your fingerprint-based criminal background check (CBC).

📌 What happens next?
✅ Complete your fingerprints as soon as possible.
✅ Once the Board receives your CBC report, allow up to 20 business days for review.
✅ If no additional review is needed, you will receive a Blue Card by mail.
✅ If additional information is required, you will receive an outcome letter with next steps.

⚠️ Important: Do not submit a Declaratory Order (DO) application unless the Board has reviewed your CBC results and specifically instructed you to do so. Submitting a DO application before it is requested may delay processing and create unnecessary fees.

Thank you for your patience as we work to review CBC results and assist future nurses on their path to licensure. 🩺

When should a nurse report an arrest?

Nurses must disclose criminal offenses—including arrests, convictions, and deferred adjudications—when applying for initial licensure or renewal. For more details, review the eligibility questions here: https://www.bon.texas.gov/licensure_eligibility.asp.html. If you have a unique situation or wish to report or discuss before renewal, our enforcement department can help.
