JMC was pleased to host an unprecedented meeting of the minds Monday – 27 former, current and future Optimist editors, representing 70 years of ACU history, beginning with '50-51 editor Ed Broadus and '51-52 editor Gary Moore all the way to current editor Owen Simpson and '21-22 editor Sydney Varner.

Our special guests were Dr. Heber Taylor, former Optimist adviser and founder of the first journalism program at then-ACC in the mid-1950s, and Dr. Charlie Marler, '54-55 editor who inspired three decades of student journalists as Optimist adviser.

Student journalism has a long tradition of excellence at ACU and it is people like those who joined us today and many others who have helped build that legacy.

The college just went through a complete rebrand and needs someone who understands the importance of brand cohesion across all channels. The director is honestly one of the best managers I have ever had and is very open to new ideas. We left on great terms and remain close friends. If you are interested in higher ed marketing, this is definitely the job for you! Feel free to message me directly if you have any questions.
