We’re back with another awesome professor for you to meet! Today we’re introducing Dr. Scott Perkins. After growing up all the way in Liverpool, NY he moved a little south to go to college at Harding. Later, after getting his doctorate at Penn State, he headed to ACU and has now been a graduate and undergrad professor in our department for 32 years! (The longest of any of our current professors!) His wife Rachel is a math teacher here in Abilene and he has three sons that are all off doing big things as well!! Outside the classroom you will probably find Dr. Perkins at the nearest soccer field—he refs soccer games for youth-age all the way through college-level! If he’s not there, you might find him at home tending to his 32 sheep, 17 chickens, 6 cats, 5 dogs, and his llama (did we mention that he almost qualifies as a zoo keeper??) His all-time favorite drink is a Diet Dr. Pepper w flaked ice and vanilla + cherry syrup (only the ~real~ syrup though) 😋 Stop by his office to visit and ask him about the research he’s doing on the co occurrence of depression and conduct disorder in adolescents 📝

You might know our next professor from speaking at your Wildcat Week, teaching your Cornerstone class, OR there’s probably a good chance that you’ve been to her house for dinner! Introducing...THE Rachel Riley! She is an ACU grad (for both of her undergraduate and graduate degrees) and is now one of the undergraduate professors in our department! She has two sweet kids and her husband is the VP of Student Life here at ACU! Her backyard (now formally known as @theacre_abilene) has turned into a very popular event venue for all kinds of ACU events--she hosted over 3,000 students at her house last year! Her favorite hobby is thrifting 👡 and she’s pretty good at it too! Ask her about the time she brought her dog to class... 🐶

A graduate and undergrad professor that doubles (triples?) as the director of our clinic AND the faculty mentor for our honors society...it could only be one person: Dr. McAnulty! He grew up in (you’ll never guess where)... Tourcoing, FRANCE! His parents were missionaries, and he lived there until he came back to the US for college! He then went to school at Harding for undergrad, Louisiana State for his Masters, and Brown University for his doctorate. He now lives here in Abilene, but he goes back to Europe once every year to visit friends from home! The weirdest job he’s ever had is a breakfast cook at McDonald's 🥞(he only lasted a week!) For fun he loves to sing and play guitar—in fact, he went to a music writing workshop the past weekend with Over the Rhine and other artists! On another musical note, ask him about his love for concerts and how many he attends a year!

“Enemy-occupied territory---that is what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us to take part in a great campaign of sabotage.” -CS Lewis

We heard a great message today from Dr. Beck in chapel today! He reminded us that it can be tiring to continually do good because every good action is reclaiming territory from the Enemy. But he encouraged us to continue fighting for the Kingdom with faithfulness, hope, and love!

Meet Dr. Wadlington, one of our graduate and undergraduate professors! He grew up right here in good old Abilene, TX. He went to UNT for undergrad, ACU for his Master’s, and TWU for his doctorate in School Psychology. A fun fact about him is that he and his wife have six kids, all of which they fostered and then adopted! One of his favorite things to do is go on bike rides with them around the Lunsford. When asked about his favorite parts of being a professor, he answered Study Abroad (he took a group to Leipzig this past summer!) and conference trips (ask him about the time he ran out of gas on the way back from SWPA 😮). He wants his students to know that “they are welcome to come by my office anytime to talk about anything! I seldom know the answer but I can help them find it!” While you’re there, ask him about his love for gnomes & check out his collection!
