Founded in 1884, the Ohio Northern University's Raabe College of Pharmacy has had the privilege to graduate over 8,500 pharmacists during its 130+ year history. The College of Pharmacy is distinctive among other colleges of pharmacy as it provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the pharmaceutical sciences and the practice of pharmacy along with a strong liberal arts curriculum that is packaged into a direct-entry 0-6 PharmD program.

To wrap up Pharmacy Week, we were honored to welcome Alan Morgan, CEO of the National Rural Health Association, to ONU for the annual Albert Sebok lecture series, which brings a national leader to campus annually.

Alan learned about what our student pharmacists and faculty do to help our rural neighbors through the pharmacy, mobile clinics, and telepharmacy services of ONU HealthWise. We also had our Rural and Underserved Health Scholars share their experience and projects focused on rural health while hearing his perspective on impacting change through creating results.

Students, faculty and staff, alumni, and state healthcare leaders were able to hear his message on national health care policy and the opportunities to provide high level care as leaders in rural communities. Thank you Alan and NRHA for coming to campus!

Congratulations to our five ONU ASCP Student Chapter members who were selected to receive the Ouchida Family Senior Care Pharmacy Scholarship!

Michael Parsons, Isaac Trujillo, Kashvi Panchal, Chiemezium Chukwu and Cadence Carpenter will be attending the 2026 ASCP Annual Meeting & Exhibition in National Harbor, Maryland, this October.

Congratulations to Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy alumni Chester “Chet” Kaczor, PharmD, MBA, on receiving the 2026 Walter M. Frazier Award from the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy (OSHP)! 🎉

The Walter M. Frazier Award is OSHP’s highest honor, recognizing sustained exemplary service in health-system and community service.

As senior vice president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Dr. Kaczor has demonstrated a strong commitment to pharmacy leadership, health care and mentoring future professionals.

Dr. Kaczor will receive the award at OSHP’s Annual Meeting & Residency Showcase Award Banquet on Nov. 13. We’re proud to celebrate this outstanding ONU alumni and his contributions to the pharmacy profession! 👏💊

Ohio Northern University was proud to co-host the 2026 NABP/AACP District IV Annual Meeting, Oct. 14-16 with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy! 🎉

The annual meeting brought together pharmacy regulators, educators, pharmacists, and other pharmacy professionals from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin to discuss important issues affecting pharmacy practice and education. It also provided a chance to have fun with colleagues from across the district and showcase the great things happening at ONU.

ONU Student Katherine Cook was honored with the Rowe Award which honors one student pharmacist each year who demonstrates excellence in academics, leadership and professionalism.

We loved welcoming the more than 100 attendees for this opportunity to connect, collaborate, and help shape the future of pharmacy! 💊

🔬 New Faculty Publication!

Dr. Shubha Rao recently served as the first author of a published commentary exploring the use of triamterene in glioblastoma, an aggressive and malignant brain tumor that primarily affects adults.

Gururaja Rao S, Smith A, Singh H. Repurposing triamterene to target CLIC1 in glioblastoma stem cells: A new opportunity for an old drug? Molecular Therapy, 2026; 34, 5643-5645.

The publication takes a closer look at how triamterene, a medication commonly used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention, could play a role in glioblastoma research and treatment. This work helps add to the growing research surrounding new ways to understand and approach this challenging disease.

Through publications like this, Raabe College of Pharmacy faculty continue to contribute their expertise to important conversations in pharmaceutical and health sciences research.

On October 1st, our students had the opportunity to explore pharmacy careers, internships, and graduate programs at the Career Fair, with more than 65 employers and graduate schools in attendance! It was a great chance to make connections, learn about different career paths, and discover what’s possible after graduation.
