Two weeks ago, our Polar Bear Racing team competed in the Baja SAE Ohio 2026 competition at Briarcliff MX in Nashport, OH.

It was a challenging weekend, but they gained valuable experience, put the car through its paces and learned alot as they
competed in several events: Acceleration (27th), Pull (37th), Maneuverability (34th), Suspension & Traction (27th), Endurance (49th, 20 laps completed), Overall (41st of 83 teams).

Now it's time to prep for the next race!

Congratulations to Dr. Ajmal Khan, Associate Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering, on being selected as the Claypool Endowed Faculty Fellow in Engineering at Ohio Northern University!

Dr. Khan teaches in the areas of cybersecurity and computer networking. He creates meaningful learning experiences that prepare students to address real-world challenges and allows them to contribute to their communities and professions. Congratulations!

Two members of the Ohio Iota chapter of Tau Beta Pi - Ohio Northern University are attending the TBP National Convention in Tucson, AZ this week. Thanks to seniors, Carter Betts and Hunter Geibel, for representing Ohio Iota and helping to conduct the business of the organization! Dr. Lauren Logan, a TBP District 7 Director, is also in attendance.

Our SAE Baja team may be off campus competing at Briarcliff MX in Nashport, Ohio but there's still plenty of activities on campus tomorrow for our ONU Homecoming! Dean's update and tours in JLK Engineering building at 9 a.m., parade at 10:30 a.m., the activities tent (now moved to the field house) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as sports, music, and more! Come see us! 🧡 🖤

Congratulations to our very own, Dr. Lauren Logan, who was recently recognized as a KEEN Rising Star! Lauren is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Kokosing Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.

Every year, the National KEEN Rising Star Award goes to the junior faculty members who are doing the most to change what engineering education looks like from the inside. This year, it went to Stephanie Gillespie at the University of New Haven, Adam Duran at Colorado School of Mines, and Lauren H. Logan at Ohio Northern University.

Lauren stated: "Without curiosity and a desire to create value for others, we will not progress as a profession or as a society."

Congratulations to Deanna!

We are excited to announce that the 2026 Thomas L. Coverstone Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Deanna Rodeheffer! 🎉

Deanna is a graduate of Fort Loramie High School and Upper Valley Career Center and is currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with a Land Surveying Certificate at Ohio Northern University. She is expected to graduate in May 2029 and will join the Choice One team as a co-op student in Summer 2027.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Thomas L. Coverstone, one of Choice One's founders, who was known for putting others first, sharing his knowledge, maintaining a positive attitude, and supporting those around him. We believe Deanna reflects many of those same qualities, and we're excited to support her as she continues her education and begins her career in civil engineering.
