STUDENTS: Microsoft multifactor authentication will be required to sign into your Pacer Account and USC Aiken Email beginning Spring 2020!
Watch your @usca.edu email over the next few weeks for a series of messages explaining this change and how to prepare for it.

Reminder: Messages to @usca.edu email accounts containing links to weebly.com sites will be blocked. Access to weebly websites will NOT be blocked, only emails contained links to the sites will be blocked.
This change went into effect on September 7th, 2018.
RESOLVED-Unscheduled Outage: Housing WiFi not connecting
Some devices were unable to connect to WiFi network in Housing. This issue has now been resolved.

Description:
We received late word tonight that Serga our internet service provider will be performing emergency maintenance on some of their fiber connections tonight which may affect the campus connection to the internet. You can see the full message below.
This will affect anyone on campus attempting to access off-campus internet resources and will affect anyone off campus attempting to access on-campus resources such as VPN, K and J drives, USC Aiken websites, etc.
Doors using USC Aiken ID Cards/Carolina Cards for access may not open this morning due to an outage with CarolinaCard in Columbia. This is a USC system-wide issue. Columbia support and vendors are working the issue now. Please see your USCA email for more info.
RESOLVED: All issues reported this morning affecting Virtual Labs and VDI computers have been resolved.
USC Aiken Campus is currently experiencing a disruption to virtual lab computers (VDIs).

Description:
Users may not be able to sign into computers in virtual labs (VDIs) in locations across campus. Users already signed into a virtual computer may also be disconnected unexpectedly.
Details:
An issue was detected late last night within the virtual computer system. The issue is causing many VDI units to not allow sign ins. Others, are disconnecting and kicking users off without warning. CSD Communications has been working on the issue with VMware vendor support last night and beginning again this morning at 6AM. They had hoped to have the issue resolved before now, but the issue continues. Support is hopeful for a resolution by noon, but they can make no guarantees of that at this time.
We will update again at noon, or sooner if we have additional information.

We’ve been alerted by the Columbia Division of Information Technology they will perform emergency work on portions of the UofSC Columbia campus network this weekend.

RESOLVED: Laptops may not be able to access the internet
All laptops should now be able to connect to PacerStudent and PACERNET without issue. This includes Macs running the new OS (macOS 10.15 Catalina).
If you are still unable to connect for any reason please try the following steps:
- Close any open web browsers
- Disconnect and reconnect to PacerStudent or PACERNET as appropriate
- Reopen your web browser
You should then have full access to the internet.
If you still experience an issue, please bring your system to the Help Desk for assistance.

UNSCHEDULED OUTAGE: Laptops may not be able to access the internet
We are currently working with Impulse Support on an issue affecting laptops attempting to access the internet through Wi-Fi. If this issue affects your connection attempt you will see one of various errors: your system may simply not be able to load a page, your system may receive an error stating that it is not complaint with Impulse policies or your system may be incorrectly identified as a gaming device and blocked.
Impulse Support and our networking team are working on this as quickly as possible.
We will update as we get more information.
MAC USERS PLEASE READ: Don't Update to macOS Catalina at this time
Several state required programs and systems, including the Impulse SafeConnect system used to connect laptops to campus Wi-Fi, are not yet compatible with the version of macOS just released.
Please do not update your personal or campus Mac system if you intend to use it on the campus network at this time.
We will send an update when upgraded versions of the required programs and systems are released to us and available for use.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
We hope to have at least the part of this issue affecting students (the Impulse SafeConnect system used to access Wi-Fi) resolved today.
