We’ve been a leading fraternity at Akron since 1923, making us the 2nd oldest continuously active chapter on campus. When you join, you aren’t just joining a group of guys. You’re stepping into a network of over 1,300 alumni, from the group of gentlemen who created Akron’s beloved Zippy, to Goodyear CEO, to multiple mayors of Akron, federal congressmen, lawyers, engineers, and so much more.
Excellent grades are a requirement for being part of our organization. Just in the past 10 years, our chapter has consistently held one of the highest GPAs on campus. We put work before fun, and we back it up with serious academic resources and local scholarships, so our guys actually graduate and land competitive co-ops and jobs.
Phi Kappa Tau is for the rest of your life. We don’t just shake your hand at graduation and say good luck. Joining this chapter means tapping into a massive, active alumni base built right into the local professional scene. When it’s time to find an internship or start your career, you have a direct line to guys who have been exactly where you are and want to see you win.
Service isn’t optional here; it’s a requirement of being a member. We put in real work for our national philanthropy, Flying Horse Farms, and show up for local spots like Haven of Rest, StarkParks, and the Food Bank. We even have our own local Foundation to support undergraduate service projects. It’s about actually making an impact in the city.
Anybody can throw Greek letters on a resume. We seek out guys who actually want to build character and LEAD. Through real executive roles, national leadership training programs, and a culture that demands your best, we make sure you leave this university as a better man than when you arrived. 🤞
