🎙️ Another brand-new episode of Librarians with Lattes has arrived, and we're getting spooky!

In our latest episode, Amanda sits down with two-time Bram Stoker Award-winning horror author Robert P. Ottone to talk about his newest novel, Amityville Awakens, his other works, the horror genre, and what goes into writing stories that keep us up at night. 👻📚

And because it's apparently a very small world, we discovered an unexpected UAlbany connection! UAlbany Anthropology professor Dr. Chris Wolff, who has also been a guest on Librarians with Lattes, designed a "Keep Amityville Weird" shirt for Robert, with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We love when our worlds collide, especially for a good cause!

🎙️ New Librarians with Lattes for Banned Books Week!

What happens when comics, graphic novels, and stories for young readers become targets for censorship?

In our latest episode, UAlbany Librarians Amanda and Kaci sit down with comic book writer Jeremy Whitley, creator of Princeless, The Unstoppable Wasp, and The Dog Knight, to talk comics, censorship, representation, and the freedom to read.

We also dig into the recent challenges and bans facing The Dog Knight — and hear directly from Jeremy about what it’s like to see your own work targeted and removed from shelves.

Here’s a little taste of our conversation 👀

📚 And keep following along all week as we celebrate Banned Books Week and the stories and readers worth protecting.

There’s a werewolf on campus… and it made its way to Duke University!

UAlbany Librarians Abby Adams, Angela Hackstadt, Kelsey O’Brien, and Computer Science graduate student Nick Cyran recently presented **Werewolf on Campus**, an IMLS-funded project, at Serious Play 2026 at Duke University!

We’re especially excited to highlight the role of student collaborators like Nick in bringing projects like this to life. From UAlbany to Serious Play, it’s great to see our students contributing their skills and perspectives to innovative work happening beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to the team on taking *Werewolf on Campus* on the road!

07/29/2026

Attention: Due to significant flooding in and around campus, the University Libraries' physical buildings will be closed today. If you can stay off the roads, please do so. Hopefully we will see you all in person tomorrow!

Quick event note: Our virtual book club discussion is still on for tonight! We will see you online!

A fresh brew of horror has arrived...

The newest episode of Librarians with Lattes is now live! This time, Amanda is joined by horror authors Sam Rebelein (Edenville) and Chris Panatier (The Phlebotomist) for a conversation about all things horror.

We chat about the writing process, building unforgettable characters, why horror continues to resonate with readers, the books that have haunted us, and what makes a great scary story. Whether you're a lifelong horror fan or just dipping your toes into the genre, there's something here for you.

This episode is part of our Summer of Horror series, celebrating the stories (and storytellers) that keep us sleeping with one eye open.
