Albany State University Fostering Through College (FTC) Program is a threefold Program that is committed to assisting current and former foster youths, ward of state and homeless youths. The first is Fostering to College.This Portion of FTC focus on foster youths who are currently in high and middle school. FTC will work with youths in high school by providing tutorial opportunities, college prep
camps, writing workshops, SAT/ACT prep classes, interpersonal workshops and more. The Second portion Fostering Through College is the centerpiece and a core component of this program. This portion of the program supports the foster youth, ward of the state or homeless youths that are currently in college.It focuses on 7 key areas (Mentor-ship; Social, mental, and health support; Financial assistance; Leadership; Interpersonal, social, communication and relationship skills; academic assistance; and Housing). The students must apply, meet the program’s criteria, and be currently enrolled at Albany State University or Darton State College. Fostering with Community is the last component of the program, but is just as important as the other two. Fostering with Community is the partnerships we have with the community. Partners such as host families, mentors, donors, foundations, case managers, State partners, businesses and many more are an important part of ensuring the students are given the assistance they need. FTC overall goal is to ensure the students leave Albany State University are prepared to enter the work force and have a successful and productive life.
