✨ Alum Spotlight: Alexander Pechacek ('24)

Meet Alexander, an MA in Economics graduate from the University at Albany, SUNY and former collegiate athlete on the Men’s Soccer team! ⚽ Originally from Vienna, Austria, Alexander chose UAlbany for its top-tier Economics program, especially its economic forecasting specialization.

After graduating in 2024, he moved to Lexington, KY, where he works in retail, applying his data analysis and forecasting expertise to support strategic business decisions. 📊

A memorable moment during his time at UAlbany was his internship with the Men’s Soccer team, where he developed a forecasting model to predict athlete performance. This experience taught him the value of data organization and applying econometric techniques in real-world situations.

đź’ˇ Alexander's advice: "Engage in as many projects, programs, and groups as possible. Connect with peers and make the most of your time!"

Grace Sorger is a first-generation college student pursuing an MS in Forensic Science Investigation and Management at the University at Albany, SUNY. After earning her BS in Biology from Allegheny College (Spring 2024), she chose UAlbany for its hands-on forensic lab internships and strong research opportunities.

When she’s not in the lab, you’ll find her reading, writing fiction, and exploring Albany’s food scene—always with a coffee in hand! She also shares her passion for science with her bearded dragon, Sprout.

Her impressive research experience includes multiple internships, a published literature review, and presentations at national conferences, such as the American College of Cardiology and SACNAS Advancing Hispanics/Chicanos & Native Americans in Science in STEM Conference.
