Exciting News from Stanly Community College!

We are excited to have the opportunity to offer Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) at Stanly Community College!

This nationally accredited program is designed to better prepare professionals who work with children and families, including those in law enforcement, fire, EMS, social services, juvenile justice, education, and other helping professions.

SCC is especially excited about what this can provide for our public safety professionals. The knowledge and skills gained through CAST can make a real difference when responding to some of the most difficult situations involving children and families.

Even better, the program is 100% online, can be completed in one year, and fees are waived for law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel.

Today, the Stanly Community College Law Enforcement Training Center was proud to host officers from the Mint Hill Police Department and Albemarle Police Department for a day of intensive driver training.
The training focused on precision driving, evasive maneuvers, and braking under high-speed conditions—skills designed to improve vehicle control, decision-making, and officer safety during critical situations.
We appreciate both departments for choosing SCC for their training needs and for their continued commitment to professional development.

This week, our BLET cadets are learning Compliance and Control Tactics—developing the hands-on skills necessary to safely control resistant subjects while protecting themselves, their fellow officers, and the public.
This training is about much more than physical techniques. Cadets must learn when force is appropriate, how to respond to different levels of resistance, and how to maintain control while making sound decisions under stress.
These are skills that require repetition, discipline, confidence, and plenty of time on the mats.
Another challenging week of training as our cadets continue building the skills they’ll need to serve their communities safely and professionally.

FI****MS WEEK COMPLETE!
Our cadets closed out a challenging week of fi****ms training with night qualification.
After battling thunderstorms and unpredictable weather throughout the week, we couldn’t be prouder of how far these cadets progressed. From the beginning of training to their final rounds under the lights, their improvement was astounding.
Collectively, this group posted some of the highest qualification scores we’ve seen, and that kind of performance doesn’t happen by accident. It is a testament to the cadets’ determination, focus, and willingness to learn, as well as the tremendous dedication of our fi****ms instructors.
Our instructors spent countless hours on the range coaching, correcting, encouraging, and pushing each cadet to improve. Their commitment to developing safe, confident, and competent law enforcement officers was evident throughout the entire week.
Long days, thunderstorms, thousands of rounds, and a lot of hard work later… Fi****ms Week is officially in the books.

Today, our BLET cadets began one of the most anticipated—and demanding—portions of their training: Fi****ms.
The first day is all about building the foundation: fi****ms safety, proper handling, fundamentals, discipline, and responsibility. Every round fired is another opportunity to learn, improve, and build the skills necessary to safely carry a fi***rm as a law enforcement officer.
Over the coming days, our cadets will be challenged both physically and mentally as they progress from basic marksmanship to more advanced law enforcement fi****ms skills.
Safety. Discipline. Accuracy. Accountability.

BLET Drivers Training — That’s a Wrap!
What a week!
Our cadets wrapped up an intense week of Law Enforcement Drivers Training, battling extreme heat for most of the week before Mother Nature decided to throw one final challenge their way, a severe storm that dumped more than 3 inches of rain and brought winds strong enough to flip their tents upside down!
Through the heat, long days, rain, wind, and everything else thrown at them, our cadets’ performance was outstanding. They stayed focused, pushed through adversity, and continued to improve each day. We couldn’t be prouder of the effort and determination they showed.
A huge THANK YOU to our instructors who were there every step of the way. They endured the same brutal conditions while continuing to teach, coach, encourage, and keep our cadets safe. Their dedication to developing the next generation of law enforcement officers was on full display this week.
They are true professionals, and we are fortunate to have them as part of our BLET team.
One more challenging week in the books and one step closer to the badge!

Cadets have been battling the extreme heat all week, pushing themselves—and the equipment—to the limits during Law Enforcement Driver Training. ☀️🥵🚔
Now, darkness is about to fall, the temperatures are finally starting to ease, and it’s time to turn things up another notch.
🌙 Night pursuit driving is on tap! 🚔💨
Training doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Tonight, our cadets will experience the added challenges of pursuit driving after dark, where visibility is reduced, reaction time is critical, and sound decision-making matters more than ever.
The sun may be setting, but training is far from over. 🚔🌙
