We're happy to share that Isabela V. Shively, VT MBA '25, was recently promoted to Project Manager at Clark Construction Group!
Isabela decided to pursue her MBA after two years in the workforce. She was drawn to our MBA program because of Virginia Tech's commitment to cultivating adaptable leaders who can navigate the rapidly evolving business landscape. Isabela found that the program’s collaborative culture and strong industry connections offered her valuable opportunities for professional and personal growth. Her long-term aspirations to pursue ethical leadership at a global level were also met by the courses offered by VT MBA. "Overall, it is an ideal environment to expand my business expertise while building a diverse and meaningful network," Isabela shares.
Isabela's most meaningful experience in the program was her management courses, particularly those focused on organizational change and team impact. "These classes have deepened my understanding of how change affects team dynamics, communication, and overall performance. I’ve gained valuable insight into how to lead teams through uncertainty with clarity and empathy."
Isabela notes that the courses that she complete within the VT MBA program played a pivotal role in her promotion to manager, helping her to inspire people, navigate challenges, and make decisions that balance strategy and empathy. "Overall, these courses have strengthened my ability to lead effectively in evolving environments," she says.
When asked what advice she had for future VT MBA students, Isabela notes that future Virginia Tech MBA students should fully immerse themselves, participate in discussions, events, and group projects, and make an effort to really get to know their classmates. "These connections will enrich both your learning and your network," Isabela says. "See the program as more than classes. Use it to grow, collaborate, and challenge yourself."
