Communication is Key – Are You Ready to Elevate Yours with Toastmasters?

Did you know Toastmasters International offers a fun and engaging way to sharpen your communication skills and build a foundation for career success?

Excitingly, Toastmasters is now collaborating with Washington University of Science and Technology- WUST!

On Saturday, November 16, we hosted an enriching session at the WUST auditorium with distinguished Toastmasters International leaders. Club Growth Director Jenny Genser White and her team shared their expertise with over two dozen enthusiastic students and faculty members.

The session covered a brief history of Toastmasters' remarkable 100-year journey as a nonprofit educational organization. Participants learned about valuable tools and pathways for personal development, the evaluation process, and also insights into Toastmasters Club membership.

Dr. Necmi Mutlu, Lead Faculty of the School of IT, and Teaching Assistant Mahmood Menon Khan coordinated the event.

Here’s the big news: Washington University of Science and Technology is considering establishing its own Toastmasters Club! Over 20 students have already expressed interest in joining.

On November 16, 2024, Engr. Abubokor Hanip, Chairman & Chancellor of Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST), attended 'The Global Vision Dialogue: Chancellors Connect.' This landmark event, organized by NIMS University in Jaipur, Rajasthan, gathered esteemed leaders in higher education.
Among the Global Education Leaders who attended the event and exchanged ideas were:
Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar, Founder & Chancellor of NIMS University and International President of the World Health Summit 2025.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder & Chairman of the Daffodil Family & Daffodil International University-DIU in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and President of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific.

Excited to announce that Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) will be the knowledge partner for the upcoming International Climate Resilience Conference 2024 to be held in a hybrid delivery mode, hosted by Amity University, Kolkata,India .

The organizing committee will be chaired by Dr. Sanghamitra Brahma, Head of Institution at Amity School of Economics, Kolkata.

Prof. Ujjwal Anu Chowdhury will be the theme speaker for the inaugural event on behalf of WUST.

We’re excited to share photos from this week’s Ground Session at the School of IT, Washington University of Science and Technology, where students were actively engaged in the Hardware Lab. These images capture the essence of replicating real-world work environments within our classroom setting—an effective bridge between industry and academia. Our adjunct professor, Erich Izdepski, brings over 40 years of computer experience, having held senior roles such as Senior Vice President at IR&D, Chief Technology Officer in Columbia, MD, and Director of Software Engineering in Baltimore. Impressive, right? If you think so, make the School of IT your destination for hands-on learning.

Calling all students, staff, and faculty!

The holiday season is all about giving, and we’re excited to launch our Holiday Food Drive! 🌟 This is your chance to spread some cheer and help local families in need.

Bring your non-perishable food items to campus and be part of making this season brighter for those less fortunate. All donations will go directly to Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) to help feed thousands of families in need. Every donation counts, so let’s show up and show out!

📅 Drop-off Dates: Monday 11/11 - Monday 11/18. Saturday donations only in the library from 12-4pm. Closed Sunday.

📍 Donation Locations: Donation boxes will be set up at the Library & front desk (all day), 3rd floor elevator bay (between classes).

Cybersecurity Seminar at WUST Features CTF Champion Idris Cornwell

Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) hosted an engaging Cybersecurity Seminar featuring prominent cyber threat engineer and 2020 Capture the Flag (CTF) champion, Mr. Idris Cornwell, on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

During the seminar, Mr. Cornwell shared valuable insights from his extensive experience in cybersecurity with a large audience comprising students, faculty, and staff. Key topics he covered included Cyber Psychology, Ethical Hacking, Deepfakes, Audio Jacking, and Cyber Threat Intelligence.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where Mr. Cornwell addressed questions from both faculty members and students. Following the event, he met with members of the WUST Cybersecurity Club and visited the university’s state-of-the-art Security Operations Center (SOC) Lab.
