Our RMU Education alumni are officially stepping up to guide the next generation of educators by serving as cooperating teachers for current RMU teacher candidates! Passing the torch (and the lesson plans) to our future teachers takes dedication, patience, and true Colonial spirit. We are so proud to see our graduates mentoring our current students as they begin their pre-student teaching and student teaching experiences. Thank you Randy Laue, Ciara Cutone (missing from photo), Brandi Catley, Katie Snyder, and Lisa Chandler.

Did you know Pennsylvania leads the nation in IDA-accredited teacher preparation programs—and Robert Morris University is leading the way?

Out of more than 100 teacher prep programs across Pennsylvania, RMU is proud to be one of just 9 universities recognized for offering accredited Structured Literacy training.

We are committed to equipping future educators with evidence-based reading instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, ensuring our graduates are fully prepared to support all learners, including those with dyslexia.

As shared in the PaTTAN Essential Bulletin for Educators:
GUIDE Program: First Cohort of Apprentices Now Certified
The DePaul School for Hearing and Speech celebrated the graduation of their first cohort of Registered Apprentices in our GUIDE program! Five candidates have completed their Master's Degree in Special Education: PK-12 Hearing Impaired Certification through a consortium of universities.

La Roche University Professor Dr. Natalie Rugg coordinated the program, which included courses from Robert Morris University, Minot (ND) State University and Utah State University, to meet the Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements for teacher certification and the PA Labor and Industry requirements of a Registered Apprenticeship.

This novel approach to teacher certification taps into strengths and available resources in a new and sustainable manner. These graduates have achieved the credentials to teach children who are deaf or in need of hearing support educational services in any educational setting in Pennsylvania, not just at DePaul School.

Life moves fast, but we couldn't let the school year wrap up without sharing these incredible moments! Looking back at these graduation photos has us feeling so incredibly proud of our students. They put in the hours, overcame the challenges, and officially turned their tassels.

To our graduates: wherever your next chapter takes you, remember that you always have a home here at RMU!

Celebrating the incredible RMU Teacher Preparation seniors who are ready to make a difference in classrooms everywhere! Today’s senior brunch in the PNC Cafe was a chance to honor their hard work, dedication, and passion for education (Thanks Pres. Patrick). We are so proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see the impact they’ll have on future generations. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 — your future students are lucky to have you!
