Ian Winkelstern, assistant professor of geology, was part of a research team of scholars from six universities studying Lake Bonneville, an ancient lake in Utah that was an ancestor to the Great Salt Lake. GVSU Professor of Anthropology Deana L. Weibel shares how seeing an eclipse from space is awe-inspiring. Dr. Weibel is currently working on a project with funding from the National Air and Space Museum's Aviation Space Writers Foundation Award. She has published a book, The Ultraview Effect: What We Can Learn from Astronauts about Awe, Humility, and Exploring the Unknown, with the University of California Press.

During the six-week Summer Film Project course, GVSU students fill out the production crew on the film set with professional filmmakers serving as department heads.

“This is as high impact as a course gets in our program,” said Potrykus. “That’s what separates it from most other film programs.
