Neuroscience major Hannah Spence ’27 spent her summer conducting research on ashwagandha and GABA receptors with Stanley Road Professor of Neuroscience Jeremy Teissere. In a day, she says she might "develop cell stocks, isolate plasmids for specific receptor subunits, or synthesize RNA."

"My coursework has provided a strong foundation for my summer research," Spence says. "These academic experiences have been vital in allowing me to continue learning and growing throughout my research project."

This summer, Noah Rosenfeld ’28, a statistics and psychology double major, had an internship with the Allentown Environmental Advisory Council. The experience is part of the Office of Community Engagement’s Community Internship Program, which offers grant-funded stipends to students interested in working with community organizations.

"I knew I was interested in a career related to research after conducting research with the psychology department," Rosenfeld says. "I then worked with the Career Center to narrow my focus, and through that process, I discovered I wanted to work somewhere within the political sphere. This past semester, I started working for the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion, where I affirmed I really enjoyed political research."

Baseball player Charlie Siper '27 has been flying high this summer as an environmental sustainability intern at Newark Liberty Airport, putting the various components of his self-designed major into practice.

"My goal is to combine business and management with data analytics, sustainability, energy, and emerging technology. I did not want to study these areas separately because I believe they are becoming increasingly connected," Siper says.

Natalie Preble ’27, a physics and mathematics double major, was recently awarded a prestigious Rossing Physics Scholarship! She is one of only three students across 28 eligible institutions to receive the full $10,000 award.

“Receiving the Rossing Physics Scholarship is truly an honor and a testament to the incredible experiences I’ve had in the Muhlenberg physics department,” Preble says. “The curriculum has offered me a deep exploration of the subfields of physics with rigorous content and opportunities to apply these ideas to practical research.
