Young Global Speakers of Penn State Altoona YGS dedicates itself to bringing together students from all backgrounds to have conversations with the local community about issues of global importance.

The Young Global Speakers Club prides itself on three primary purposes. The first of these entails promoting awareness towards fundamental global issues. These issues will be based on topics evaluated and discussed by a grand council and will be held to a series of criteria. If an issue is approved by the council, it is considered to be of monumental contemporary import to global societies. The se

cond purpose of the club calls for the assistance in fostering superior public speaking, or oratory skills, for participating members. This is especially important as communication is a staple in the flourishment of peaceful and effective global societies. The final purpose promotes the adoption of a ‘global citizen’ mindset, in which members are enlightened to the vast differences in culture, ideology, religion etc. that exist between groups so that peaceful coexistence can be realized. The Young Global Speakers Club believes that the best way to accomplish the final goal is to allow the club to study and evaluate various oratory performances while also propagating their own voice through traveling to various events.
