Western Oklahoma State College is proud to welcome Catherine “Cathy” Gover as a President’s Partner, continuing a family legacy of support for Western and the communities of southwest Oklahoma.
Cathy and her husband, Jim, made Altus their home in 1983. Cathy has been part of the Altus Public Schools family for 26 years and currently serves as the Internship Program Coordinator at Altus High School. Their two daughters both attended Western and served as Western Ambassadors, making Western an important part of all four members of their family’s lives.
Cathy continues to give back through her involvement with Rotary, the Military Affairs Committee, P.E.O. Chapter GQ, and as the Interact Sponsor at Altus High School.
“Western offers so much more to its students than academics,” Cathy said. “The college has been such a big part of our family’s lives, and I wanted to continue that legacy.”
That legacy runs deep. Cathy’s father-in-law, John Gover, was a member of the first Board of Regents for Altus Junior College and played a pivotal role in the fundraising efforts to purchase the property where Western stands today.
We are grateful to Cathy for continuing the Gover family tradition of investing in Western and in the future of our students.
