Psychology Student/Graduate Opportunity:
Oklahoma State Psychology Diversity Day
Date: Friday, March 25th
Location: Zoom (Links will be sent out to applicants)
Program Description
Our Diversifying Psychology Day is an opportunity for talented undergraduates and recent college graduates from historically marginalized backgrounds who are invested in pursuing doctoral-level training in clinical or experimental psychology. The program includes an intensive set of seminars, panel discussions, and workshops. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to develop a competitive application, meet psychology doctoral students and faculty in formal and informal settings, and receive an introduction to our Clinical and Experimental Psychology programs and graduate training.
If you hold membership in one or more underrepresented and/or historically minoritized groups, including but not limited to, non-cis-gendered individuals, members of the q***r community, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), individuals who are differently-abled or who experience disability, first-generation college students, and those from low-income / low-resource backgrounds, you are invited to apply for this opportunity.
These events are not a part of the admissions process and have no bearing on your acceptance to the university. They are available as a resource for applicants applying to the Department of Psychology, and serve as an opportunity to ask current graduate students who identify as a racial/ethnic minority member or as part of the LGBTQA+ community questions about their experiences at Oklahoma State, in Stillwater, and in a graduate psychology program
Why are we Doing This?
The Oklahoma State Psychology Department is actively and intentionally committing to building an inclusive field. While we intend to be more intentional about increasing diversity and support for diverse individuals within our own department, we also feel strongly that we should help historically minoritized individuals pursue training in psychology no matter what institutions they're interested in, because the field needs everything you have to offer! As such, our goal in offering this workshop is to help you put your best foot forward as you apply widely for training opportunities in psychology.
