Take a look at a few of our past Outstanding Graduates in the Education category:

Kenneth Hamilton, Ph.D. – Professor and Director of Ethnic Studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Don Raleigh, Ed.D. – President at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Cheryl Evans, Ed.D. – Executive Director of the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges and former president of Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, Oklahoma.

Take a stroll through the Jesse Dunn building and you’ll discover a new art display lighting up the hallways. This collection features original works by former student Pierce Wise, whose creativity continues to inspire. In his honor, his mother, Shelly Phelps, has established an endowed art stipend to support upper-level visual arts and fine arts students.

Wise attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University from fall 1976 to summer 1978. He was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh. Wise cared deeply about others and his mother believes he would have welcomed the opportunity to support fellow art students in pursuing their creative goals.

Meet Li’l Rangers Nexie and Shepherd!

Li’l Ranger Nexie is the daughter of Nick and Liberty (Bird) Forsythe. Liberty earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwestern in 2023.

Li’l Ranger Shepherd is the son of Ryan and Cheney (Bird) Schaeffer. Cheney earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern in 2019.

The Ranger roots run deep in the Bird family! Nexie and Shepherd’s grandparents are Skeeter, ’85, and Raye Lyn Bird who attended Northwestern from 1983 to 1985. Their great-grandfather, Allen Bird, graduated from Northwestern in 1962, and their great-great-grandparents - William and Eva Bird - graduated from Northwestern in 1940 and 1960, respectively, when it was Northwestern State College.

That’s a lot of Ranger pride in one family.

Congratulations to Cali Griffin, Northwestern Rodeo Coach, on being selected as the recipient of the 2026 Donovan Reichenberger Fundraising Award!

Griffin successfully raised nearly $200,000 for improvements to the Don Campbell Rodeo Complex, helping create new opportunities and enhancements for Northwestern Rodeo.

This past weekend we had the privilege of hosting our annual Raising Rangers Family Day Luncheon. Northwestern alumni and their current or future Rangers gathered for an afternoon of lunch, giveaways and fellowship as we celebrated what it means to be part of the Ranger Family.

We gathered for our 2026 Annual Meeting to celebrate the achievements of the past year and look ahead to our new goals.

During the meeting, we recognized donors who reached new levels of giving, along with the recipient of the Donovan Reichenberger Fundraising Award. Alaina Pierce served as our student speaker and shared her appreciation for the donors who make a difference in the lives of Northwestern students.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and continued support of our Ranger family! ❤️🖤
