In August 2020, NWOSU will begin offering a Master of Arts degree in Heritage Tourism and Conservation, a 32-hour program. Its aim is to prepare students to serve as leaders in existing and emerging areas of tourism and conservation. Heritage Tourism focuses on the history and culture of a given region and can include genealogy, traditional arts, story-telling, music, dance, customs, food, and activities of daily life that may be incorporated into museums (historical, archaeological, natural history, geologic), resorts, off-site farmers' markets, non-profit agricultural tours, and other leisure and hospitality businesses.

This year, NWOSU is hosting Oklahoma Research Day. As coordinator of the event, Dr. Holliday is proud to say that he has 947 registrants from colleges and universities around the state, who will be presenting their research in the areas of Business, Education and Professional Studies, Fine Arts and Design, Liberal Arts, and Mathematics and Science. This event showcases the creative, innovative, and important research that is conducted by students and faculty in higher education. Northwestern Oklahoma State University's Office of Graduate Studies is excited to announce that NWOSU will host Oklahoma Research Day (ORD) this year at Enid’s Central National Bank Center on Friday, March 3, 2017. Now in its 18th year, Oklahoma Research Day is a premier annual event celebrating student and faculty research, creative, and scholarly activities. The event has grown in numbers and in stature with contributions from all of Oklahoma’s institutions of higher education, including many collaborative contributions from national and international academic and research institutions.
If you are a student or an academic who plans to attend this year’s Oklahoma Research Day, you will need to register for the event and the optional banquet at the Oklahoma Research Day website: http://www.oklahomaresearchday.com/. Here, you can also find the “Preview of Events” link that will provide the schedule for the day. The last day to register for ORD is Tuesday, January 31st.

MCP Students: The Office of Graduate Studies and the Psychology Department are glad to announce that the new curriculum for the LPC and LADC tracks have been approved by the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education. Subsequently, new Plan of Study forms for these tracks are now available under the "Forms and Plans of Study" tab on the Graduate Studies website.

Congratulations to Dr. Shawn Holliday, who will become Associate Dean of Graduate Studies beginning July 1, 2010. Dr. Holliday is Associate Professor of English and currently is the Chair of English, Foreign Language, and Humanities at NWOSU. He takes the place of Dr. Rodney C. Murrow, who is retiring from the university after a 36-year tenure in higher education in Oklahoma.

NWOSU Commencement ceremony is 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 8th, at Ranger Field in Alva (Percefull Fieldhouse in case of inclement weather). We are conferring FORTY-TWO master's degrees for the Spring and Summer terms! Of those, THIRTY-FOUR indicated they will participate in the ceremony! Congratulations to our graduates!

Graduate Committee meets today at 2:30 PM. The final meeting of this school year is April 21, 2:30 PM. The committee does not meet in summer term, so any student appeal matters must be dealt with by the April 21st meeting. The committee will begin meeting sometime in September for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Posters should not exceed 48" x 48" and should be attached to tri-fold display stands (available at Wal-Mart, Staples, Merrifield's and other businesses); alternatively, you may provide your own easel. The university will provide eight-foot banquet tables, allowing two posters per table.
