Congratulations to Morgan Dutton, NWOSU Division of Education Spring 2026 "Teach Like a Ranger" honoree!

Dutton earned her Natural Science Education degree with a chemistry emphasis from Northwestern in 2018. She went on to teach high school science and was named Kingfisher Public Schools' Teacher of the Year in February 2026.

"Not every day is easy, but when you see the connections being made or the student who has struggled the most starting to be successful, it makes the tough times worth it." — Morgan Dutton

Red, White & Rowdy — it's time to start planning for Northwestern Oklahoma State University Homecoming 2026, Oct. 8–10 in Alva!

This year's theme honors America's 250th Anniversary, and student and community groups are encouraged to build floats around the patriotic theme.

The theme was submitted by Northwestern alumna Ruth Ann (Click) Replogle, who received $25 in Alva Chamber of Commerce Chamber Bucks for her winning entry.

Leading this year's parade as marshal will be longstanding Northwestern supporter Verne Metcalf.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University's 9th Annual DNP Residency Week is coming to the Alva campus July 12–16, 2026 — and volunteers are needed!

The Wisdom Family Foundation Doctoral Program for Rural Nursing Practice is looking for:
👶 Children under 7 — for 20-minute physical exams on July 13 (1–3 PM). Optional practice also available July 13 from 9:30–11:30 AM. Gift bags provided!
👩 Female volunteers (who have not had a hysterectomy) — for 60-minute well-woman exams on July 14 (1–5 PM). Participants receive a gift bag that includes a Walmart gift card as thanks.

All exams take place on the NWOSU Alva campus. This is a great way to support the education of future nurse practitioners right here in our community.

To sign up or learn more, contact Brenna Smith at [email protected].

The 2026 DNP graduates' poster presentation is also open to the public Thursday, July 16, from 3:30–4:40 PM in the J.W. Martin Library.

Twelve Northwestern Oklahoma State University students have been selected as the 2026-2027 Northwestern Scholar Ambassadors (NSA) — a competitive program built around servant leadership, campus engagement, and community service.

The 2026-2027 Scholar Ambassadors are:

Jordan Banuelos, Thomas sophomore, computer science

Allie Brewer, Bristow sophomore, agriculture education

Barrett Brown, Liberty junior, business administration

Pete Gwinn, Helena junior, criminal justice

Anniston Henning, Harper, Kan., senior, agriculture

Jenna Johnson, Mustang sophomore, biology

Patrick Means, McKinney, Texas, junior, agriculture

Ava Miller, Tuttle junior, biology

Boden Miller, Fairview sophomore, business administration

Alaina Pierce, Alva senior, chemistry and biology

Haiden Thompson, Miami, Texas, junior, biology

Nicolette Webster, Lamont sophomore, agriculture education

NSA members lead campus tours, complete individual service projects, and invest one hour per week in university and community life — and one of their first big responsibilities is hosting Camp Ranger, Northwestern's incoming freshman camp.

This year's Camp Ranger runs July 30–Aug. 1 on the Alva campus. The $125 registration fee covers food and lodging in the Northwestern dormitories, and attendees have the option to move in to their dorms early.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, July 28.
