New Faculty Spotlight welcoming Dr. Jared Register ✨
Dr. Jared Register is the new Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Georgia Southwestern State University, where he leads the university’s choral and vocal program and teaches courses in music and voice.
Before joining Georgia Southwestern, Dr. Register served as Director of Choral Activities at Savannah Arts Academy, one of Georgia’s premier visual and performing arts high schools. He has also taught middle school chorus, worked in community musical theatre, and served in a variety of church music leadership roles throughout his career.
An active conductor, clinician, accompanist, and church musician, Dr. Register’s choirs have earned superior ratings at evaluation, first-place wins at competitions, and have performed at GMEA state conference, throughout the United States and internationally. His research focuses on the motivations to sing, rehearsal pedagogy, and pre-service music teacher training.
Dr. Register holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Georgia and the Master of Music degree from Georgia Southern University. He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Georgia Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education.
Dr. Register is excited to join the Georgia Southwestern community, contributing to the tradition of great music on the GSW campus.
