We are very proud of Dani! Throughout her graduate studies, Dani distinguished herself as an exceptional researcher and leader, advancing from a temporary seed analyst in the Germination Lab to Trait Lab Coordinator, where she oversees one of the few public laboratories in the United States specializing in biotech trait and DNA testing. Her technical expertise, commitment to quality, and passion for innovation have made a lasting impact on the Seed Science Center, the seed industry, and the students she has mentored along the way. We are proud of all she has accomplished and look forward to seeing what she achieves next.

A big congratulations to the Seed Science Center's own, Daniela Avalos Ochoa!

Today, Dani successfully passed her final oral exam, where she presented her work, A Living Handbook of Herbicide Bioassays for Seed Trait Testing Laboratories.

Congratulations, Dani! We are proud of you and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future.

The best seed industry training comes from the people shaping the industry.

This week, participants in the Iowa State University Seed Science Center's Seed Corn Conditioning Workshop are learning from some of the most respected experts in the business, including industry leader Jon Popp, CEO of Popp Engineering and recent recipient of the Independent Professional Seed Association - IPSAendent Professional Seed Association Lifetime Achievement Award. In a recent Seed World US feature ( link is in the comments), Popp shared how facility design, automation, and process engineering influence seed quality, uniformity, and ultimately farmer success.

Our workshops don't just teach concepts—they connect attendees with the innovators and thought leaders driving the future of seed.

Missed this week's workshop? There's still time to register for our next Seed Corn Conditioning Workshop, August 4–6. Seats are limited and fill quickly, so reserve your spot today. Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
