Five College America Reads For the Five College America Reads community to share updates, events, ideas and questions. Amherst College, Umass, Hampshire, Smith, Mount Holyoke.

The Five College America Reads Tutor Program is a collaborative effort of college administrators from five area campuses, and Five Colleges Inc. America Reads/America Counts is a program promoted by the federal government to use university Federal Work Study (FWS) students as reading tutors to help children improve reading skills, with the goal of helping all children read independently by the end

of the third grade, and continue to develop their literacy and math skills beyond that. Students from Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College and the University of Massachusetts work in area schools and agencies to support programs that foster literacy and math development. If you are a student interested in tutoring, or a local agency looking for FWS tutors, please contact us for opportunities.
