Students in section T1 of HON 102 wrapped up a standout semester exploring maternal health in Buffalo, a led by Teaching Assistant Sriya Natarajan.

The course challenged first-year Honors students to examine systemic disparities facing mothers and newborns in their own community. For their final project, students interviewed local doulas and developed original research focuses from those conversations. The semester concluded with presentations showcasing their work.

In hockey, they say you've got to keep your head on a swivel, and graduation week has us doing just that, looking backward with gratitude and forward with excitement.

Emaan, Lindsey, and Madi have been fixtures in the Honors College for four years, variously as Think Tankers, Colloquium TAs, Book Club founders, and lounge regulars. Now they're headed off to careers in medicine and dentistry as living proof that the Honors College is as much about finding a community that supports and celebrates you as it is about academic excellence.

There's always something bittersweet about saying goodbye to graduating Presidential Scholars, students whose talent and dedication have left a lasting mark on our university and Honors College.

Last night, President and Mrs. Tripathi welcomed them and the Honors College staff into their home one final time. Students shared memories of UB, the Presidential Scholars Seminar, and the Honors College. This reception was especially meaningful, as it was President Tripathi's last before stepping down this summer.

We're so proud of these graduates and grateful for President Tripathi's leadership and his unwavering support of the Honors College.

Congratulations to Lauren Phung, recipient of the SUNY's highest student award, the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence.

With a double major in Geographic Information Science and Environmental Sustainability, senior Honors scholar Lauren has spent four years making the most of everything UB has to offer. From presenting her thesis at a national geography conference to serving as a keynote colloquium speaker, College of Arts and Sciences Ambassador, and director of sustainability for the Food Recovery Network.

And if that weren't impressive enough, Lauren has been solving Rubik's Cubes for nearly a decade. She can now solve a cube in just 6 seconds, has organized over 50 competitions as an official World Cube Association delegate, and helped grow the cubing community across New York State.
