Kristina Bezanson, Senior Lecturer in Arboriculture, is taking on The Tour des Trees this September! It is a multiday, supported bike tour with riders spending up to five days riding in South and North Carolina, engaging with communities and raising funds for TREE Fund.

Riders will raise funds for each day they ride.

In addition to riding bikes and having fun, riders will also be ambassadors for TREE Fund and for tree science; stopping at various spots along the way and spreading the word about the importance of trees and tree care.

Many of our NRC students have received Tree Fund Scholarships, and our professors and researchers have also received grants to fund research at UMass. The ride is the Tree Fund’s biggest fundraiser.

Check out this cool event held by the UMass Bee Campus Committee THIS weekend!!!

Also, mark your calendars for the evening of Wednesday 7/22 as they will be holding a Moth Lighting (Moth Ball) event! They will observe and photograph the beautiful nocturnal moths and insects that come to our light set up. If you've ever been curious about our native giant silk moths this is the event for you.

When you visit your local garden center this spring, are you thinking about the effects of your landscaping on ecosystems and wildlife?
