Welcome back to UMass! We hope everybody had a restful, stress-free break back home.

We welcome our first semester with Alex Cooper as the acting President of our SAME chapter. Over the past year, we were able to grow under the guidance of AJ Frere, who left us in a great position to continue gaining momentum as we enter our 5th semester on campus.

While last semester focused primarily on career building, this semester is going to be slightly different. Our efforts will be focused on site visits, public outreach, and growing the general body of our chapter! We are currently working on a few events which aim to increase awareness for SAME at UMass, while also giving back to veterans in the community.

More importantly, our first chapter meeting of the semester will be:

Our next meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, November 12th, at 6 P.M. in the Gunness Student Center, Marcus Hall.

Dr. McLaughlin is going to be coming by to talk about his work and research, which will be great; and as always there will be pizza!

We also will be holding elections for Vice President and Secretary. At this point, we have not received any applications, so if you are at all interested in giving back to the group and helping us continue to exist, please let us know! There's a ton of work that we do behind the scenes to make this group what it is, and without dedicated people to make that happen, it could all go away very quickly.

Hope to see you Thursday!

Just a reminder: SAME will be having a networking event tomorrow (Wednesday, October 21st) at 5:30 PM in Room 908 in the Campus Center. Dinner will be provided. Feel free to bring resumes. Business casual.
