Grace Holleran, a literary translator from Portuguese and scholar specializing in activist translation, is happy to be joining Metamorphoses as the new editor-in-chief. Professor Holleran holds a PhD in Luso-Afro-Brazilian Studies and Theory from the UMass Dartmouth and is a Lecturer in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at the UMass Amherst. She worked as an editorial assistant for Tagus Press (Center of Portuguese Studies and Culture, UMass Dartmouth) from 2021–2024 and is currently an editor for the literary translation journal Barricade. Her translations of Catarina Lins, João Melo, Maria do Rosário Pedreira, and Fernando Pessoa have been published in TILT by Tilted House, Brittle Paper, Gávea-Brown, The Shoutflower, and others, and have been featured at the New Orleans Poetry Festival and the Rotterdam International Poetry Festival. She is the translator, with the late Professor Christopher Larkosh, of Christine Greiner’s The Body in Crisis, published by the University of Michigan Press (2021). Professor Holleran writes and presents research on networks of translation in the alternative press in Brazil and Portugal.
